Food & Friendship

The title says it all and more. We offer food with friendship five days a week. A complete meal is served at lunchtime and plenty of conversation tops each meal. In addition to the meal, we offer low-impact aerobic exercise, bingo, weekly speakers and fun parties.

We supply case coordination by social workers who strictly adhere to the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics. Their mission is to enhance the well-being of seniors and help them meet their basic human needs. While clients may be referred to case coordination for a variety of reasons, our social workers always focus on the client’s self-determination, empowerment and dignity.

If a hospital stay or recent injury brings you home with durable medical equipment needs, call our loan closet to borrow what you need. If you have equipment that you no longer use, we would be delighted to add it to our loan closet.

Office work, special events, escorts, friendly visitors, Meals on Wheels drivers, our volunteer opportunities for all ages are bountiful, and SOC can put your special talents to good use. Let us know what they are, and we will give you the opportunity to use them.
Meals on Wheels
Shirley Snow
Meals on Wheels contributes to the overall well-being of seniors by providing regular nutrition and daily contact with a caring volunteer. A hot meal is provided five days per week to Harper Woods and Grosse Pointe area residents who are unable to shop or prepare meals for themselves. This can include people who are ill, recently hospitalized or above the age of 60 years.
